Who I am
My name is Patrick Connor. I was trained as a boatbuilder in Lunenburg, N.S. after which I worked at the Dory Shop in Lunenburg. I then earned a cabinetmaking Diploma in Montreal and worked for a custom furniture maker for several years, building traditional Quebecois furniture.
Expanding on my woodworking knowledge and experience, I then worked for a local timber framing company eventually building my own timber frame home with a workshop beside. This is where I now build, drawing on all the streams of my experience.

Design Philosophy
Design combines beauty and practicality to improve the flow of daily life thereby making it more harmonious and enjoyable. My designs are based on traditional construction, balanced and harmonious proportions, beauty created by the selection and optimum display of the wood and simple, decorative elements that draw all these principles together.

Methods of working
Wood always moves. This is its essential nature and part of what makes it so vibrant and alive as a material. By using traditional building methods, the wood is allowed to move while a strong, stable piece is created in which the structure is part of its beauty.

Finish
I specialize in natural oil finishes, waxes and oil varnishes whenever possible. Not only do these finishes bring out the natural beauty of the wood, they also age with grace.
Through simple, attractive designs, traditional building methods and natural materials,
a piece is created to not only last through time, but to age with grace.
